Splurge or Deal: Houndstooth Coat
Houndstooth is such a nice neutral pattern. I can throw it over anything. And there are a lot of nice options out there. I like the Madonna and Co. version, but Charlotte Russe and Chicnova also have chic alternatives for any budget.
Facebook for Authors – Cool Apps
Creating a Facebook page is difficult. Creating a Facebook page as an author is worse. And with so many apps to choose from, one is sure to get a headache or two. I love apps. Some I love more than others and whenever possible I try new apps in the hopes that it will make my life as a writer easier.
What I’ve learned from trying out so many apps is that not all apps are created equal. Some are free while others are not. Some need more work and other well, I should’ve never downloaded. The thing I keep in mind when searching for apps is that I want to highlight myself as an author, and if I’m running contests or promotions, I want my visitors to be able to access these contests and promos easily.
Here are some apps that (at this time) might be good for your page:
• ZoomFrame – allows you to import your website, Amazon author page or other pages (it allows three pages for free)
• ZoomFrame – allows you to import your website, Amazon author page or other pages (it allows three pages for free)
• Goodreads – imports your books from Goodreads
• Pinterest – here is a great post about some Pinterest apps for Facebook
• NetworkedBlogs – imports your blog posts to your page (I like having the NetworkedBlogs on my own blog and connecting with people through it.)
• YouTube For Pages – this is one I need to install – it will integrate your YouTube videos with Facebook
• Contest Apps – I haven’t used any personally, but I know people who like Rafflecopter
• Likes – if you have a lot of likes, you might have a likes apps to show the count (it can inspire others to like your page)
• Events – if you participate in events, you can use this app to let people know your schedule
• videos – if you don’t want to integrate with YouTube, there are apps that allow you to upload videos – videos are a great way to engage your fans
• quizzes – I haven’t used any quiz apps but they are also a great way to engage your fans
• Freebooksy has released a Facebook app for authors that is free. It allows you to put in your Amazon ISBN and have your book details automatically pull into your Facebook page. You can also offer a free chapter, collect email addresses from your fans and list your book signings.
You can install it here: https://apps.facebook.com/authorapp/?ref=ts
You can learn more about the features here: http://www.freebooksy.com/freebooksy-author-marketing-ap/
Involver.com has a few free Apps that are available for download. I use their Twitter feed and Rss blog feed apps.

#FollowFriday or #FF is one of the most popular hashtags on Twitter, used on a Friday to suggest people to follow to your followers. Ideally, don’t just include a list of @usernames – tell us why we should follow the person or people you suggest. You can do them one at a time, or include a list of people grouped together by topic or reason.

Four invaluable and FREE twitter apps
Tweeting can be hazardous to your health. I’ve had that twitter bug, sitting at my desk tweeting away, trying to find content last minute because the last time I tweeted was a month ago. This is valuable time I could have spent revising my WIP or writing new content for my next book. But no, I was warped into the twitter twilight zone and didn’t emerge for two hours and you know what came out of it, not one new follower. Why, because nothing done last minute has any value. So, I have adapted a few new tools that have proven to help me and in turn, they will help you.
1. Twuffer.com : I use this app quite a lot because I currently reside in China and the time zone confuses me. (I’m exactly 12 hours ahead of NYC.) Twuffer lets me schedule as many tweets as I need far in advance. This helps me substantially and frees up a lot of my writing time.
2. savepublishing.com has a great toolbar app that grabs tweetables from any website. I’ve used this on my avscott.com site and my blog belowseelevel.com. It’s great for when you don’t know what to tweet. Follow the directions to the letter and in less than five seconds, you’ll have tweetable content.
3. Justunfollow.com has free and paid options. I use the free one quite often and it works. It easily lets you see the twitter followers that are following you, unfollowed you and who is inactive. My follower base has grown with this tool because as you may or may not know, Twitter has a follow ratio. Therefore, you can’t just go around following everyone. Every user can follow 2000 people total. Once you’ve followed 2000 users, there are limits to the number of additional users you can follow: this limit is different for every user and is based on your ratio of followers to following. So, follow wisely.
4. Clicktotweet.com is the easiest and quickest way to create tweetables. As you’ve probably noticed, I used them in my blog. Simply enter the information you want to tweet, add hashtag and don’t forget to add your twitter handle and then click generate. Then, copy the link into your blog or website.
Here are some free tweetables. Feel free to use as often as you like!

Splurge or Deal: Celine Tote
The other day I went to the Mall and fell in love with this bag at first sight. It's chic. It's classic. It's....expensive. Not one to spend $2500 on a bag, I said goodbye, moving on to some window shopping. However, three days later, I was still thinking about this bag.
So, I went hunting online.
The BagInc version is only $79.99 while the Daily Look version is a much nicer steal at $49.99
I see a new bag in my future.
Chic Holiday Table Decor
You'd think that with the holidays right around the corner, I'd have an idea about how to decorate our dinner table. I don't. We're not a traditional type of family, rarely eating round a dinner table together or at the same time.
Thanksgiving however, changes everything.
We all have our favorite Thanksgiving dishes, and ideas about how the entire day should go. My biggest issue is making purchases that I'll only use once a year. So, I went on the hunt for pieces that were practical, chic and so darn cute I'd have no choice but to use it over and over again.
1. Salad Bowl / $25
2. Glass Gravy Bowl / $23
3. Vintage Salad Plates / $19.99
4. Napkin Rings (Do yourself option) or Purchase a set here ($18 and up)
5. Floating Candle Centerpiece /
6. Gold Cups / $27
#Hashtags for Travel Writers
6 Hashtags for Travel Writers
I know you don’t want to, but you just have to accept that Hashtags are the ultimate must to social media. That is, if you want your posts, tweet and updates to actually reach real live people instead of getting lost in cyberspace. If you don’t care, then skip this post. Seriously. But, if you do care then by golly read on!
Whatever you write, snap or catch on video, it’s hashtagable. (Oops, I think I just invented that word.) Anyway, point is, don’t waste valuable character space in your posts and add that hashtag. If not for you, for the sake of hashtags everywhere.

Celebrity Style For Less: Hayden Panettiere
There is nothing I like more than dresses that won't wrinkle after a ten hour flight. This Look For Less dress is perfect for long flights, and easily wearable for both day and night. Add a little bling and you're ready for a night on the town. Who said you have to spend a fortune to look fabulous??!!

Celebrity Style for Less: Eva Longoria
I love the color yellow. I love bright jackets even more, and although I don't wear jackets too often, this is definitely one outfit to put on my Must-Wear list. You can recreate Eva's outfit for under $200. How awesome is that?!!
Blazer $15 / Pants $15 / Shoes $60 / Bag $20 / Sunglasses $12

Celebrity Style For Less: Emma Stone
I'm a sucker for little black dresses. I love how great they go with any color of heels and clutch. I came across this dress Emma stone wore, but couldn't find where she wore it or who designed it. So, I searched online and found a really close match. Because I travel a lot with my family, we limit our personal purchases to allow for smooth relocations. This is the type of dress I can donate or give away to a friend if I can't take with me.

#Postcard: Hong Kong
Known for it's cramped, barely-there streets, Hong kong encompasses a myriad of hidden gems you'll miss if you're in a hurry. On this day, one of my girlfriends decided to take me to lunch at a Brazilian steakhouse. I love how if you're not paying attention, you'll miss important things, like chocolate!
Bar in Review: Ozone Bar @Ritz Carlton Hong Kong
Across the harbor, in West Kowloon, perched atop the 118th floor of the ICC building (International Commerce Center) the Ritz Carlton has designed a cocktail bar to draw in the sexy cashed-up crowd, fitfully nicknamed – the bar on top of the world.
And, it has become one of my favorite to go bars in Hong Kong.
We arrived around ten p.m and the outdoor seating area was already packed. Can’t blame anyone. The expansive glass walled terrace is the most coveted part of the entire place. With an open roof and breathtaking views, it’s no surprise we couldn’t get a seat outdoors.
However, we weren’t disappointed with our seating options. Ozone Bar encompasses dazzling, and dizzying nooks with avant-garde seating and neon lighting.
We opted for a seating are with a view of the DJ booth, ordered our expensive drinks, and then relaxed. We weren’t too thrilled with the music selection that evening, (the group I was with, and myself like an eclectic playlist. Not one that only plays a mere two genre selection.) but we managed to linger until midnight as we had to take a ferry back to Macau.
We will return? Yes, hopefully when there’s an event or better music selection.
The drinks are expensive, but taste heavenly. My favorite were the mini burgers! They were divine!
